Working Holiday Visa

The Working Holiday Programme  is based on a joint German-New Zealand Agreement drawn up in October 2000 and allows young New Zealanders between the ages of 18 and 30 to live in Germany for up to one year to get an insight into life and culture in Germany.

In order to help you finance your stay in Germany, you may work for up to 12 months either in an employment status or self-employed.

Please note that the emphasis of the programme is on youth mobility. It does not provide an alternative pathway to employment in Germany. If you do not meet the criteria above or have a job offer for full-time employment, you must apply for a regular work permit.

Please find the application form and information sheet on applying for the visa below. We have also compiled a list of the most frequently asked questions on this topic.

For any further questions, please contact the Visa Section of the German Embassy.

Please fill out the  application form, print it out, sign it and submit it along with the other documents.

Please compile the documents you need to submit with your application. If documents or supporting documents are missing, your application may be rejected. We have prepared an information leaflet.

Please make an appointment to submit your application.
