All applications must be lodged in person at the German embassy in Wellington by prior appointment using our online booking appointment system. Please note that you can not apply more than 3 months before your entry to Germany.

- Keep yourself informed about the status of entry restrictions in Germany. Due to the coronavirus outbreak many countries have imposed travel restrictions or taken other steps to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
Upon entry into the Federal Republic of Germany, individuals aged six years or older need to be in possession of proof of testing, proof of recovery or proof of vaccination. PCR tests must not be older than 48hrs at the time of (planned) departure; antigen tests must not be older than 48hrs at the time of (planned) entry into Germany. The obligation to provide COVID proof also applies to airline passengers only transiting at an airport in Germany. This applies to both the non-Schengen transit from and to third countries outside the Schengen area and to the transit from and to Schengen countries.
People who have been vaccinated and people who have recovered from Covid-19 do not need to provide a negative test result. However, they must provide respective proof of vaccination or recovery. Proof of testing, proof of recovery or proof of vaccination must be presented to carriers for review prior to the journey.
