EU- Blue Card ( § 18g AufenthG)

Residence permit for researchers

General Information

New Zealand citizens can also apply for a work permit after entering Germany at the local authority for foreigners (excluding Jobseeker´s Visa).This also applies to citizens of Australia, Canada, Honduras, Israel, Japan, The Republic of Korea and the United States of America.
All other citizens must apply before entering Germany keeping in mind that the processing of work visa (residence permits) may take up to 3 months.

Visa applications can only be lodged in person by prior appointment with the German Embassy in Wellington. Honorary Consuls do not handle any visa applications.

Appointments have to be booked via our online appointment booking system

Fingerprints will be electronically scanned as part of the application process.
