Children and education are one of the most affected areas during the Covid-pandemic. Adequate hygenic standards are more important than ever in crowded schools to enable the kids to continue with what is most important for their future – their schooling.

The German Embassy in Wellington has funded a partnership project with Aoga Fiamalamalama School called ‘Improving and maintaining Hygiene in the midst of Covid-19’. The purpose of this partnership project is to improve the learning environment for students and teachers. The Embassy contributed just over $14,600 Samoan Tala worth of floor tiles, toilets and sinks for hand washing. Also part of this project was a new washing machine and four new laptops for the school. The German Honorary Consul to Samoa Tagaloa Christa Szegedi emphasised the importance of providing support especially in the area of special needs. “I strongly believe in finding ways and providing resources to improve the standard of education for the children in Samoa. At the same it is vital that opportunities also be afforded to children with disabilities”. Principal of Aoga Fiamalamalama Sharon Suhren expressed her gratitude for the project “We want to extend a big thank you to the German Consul Tagaloa and the German government for this project. It has enabled the school to do some of the things that needed doing for the betterment of the school”.To celebrate the successful conclusion of this partnership project, a special ceremony was held at Aoga Fiamalamalama School.
